Sights of Sydney

The capital of the most remote state that is located in the Pacific Ocean and occupies the entire continent – this is Sydney, Australia. The country is famous for its coral Great Barrier Reef, a real miracle of nature, which has become a tourist center, and also surprises with its unusual color mountain peak Ayers Rock. Here, a rare and magnificent wildlife and beautiful nature are successfully combined with developed megacities, and natural attractions – with urbanization. One of these cities can be considered and Sydney.

Sydney Landmark – Mount Annan
Sydney is the capital of Australia and contains hundreds of attractions. The city by the sea is a combination of skyscrapers in the business center with medieval buildings built in the Mediterranean style. There are restaurants, hotels, parks, beaches, and theaters. The large modern port and the building of the opera house can be considered the symbols of the capital.

One of the attractions of Sydney, which is also a benchmark for the beauty of nature, is the Mount Annan Botanical Garden. It is located on 416 hectares of hilly terrain in southwest Sydney. Here grow Australian plants, of which there are about 4 thousand copies. But the park was opened not so long ago, only in 1988 and its founder was the York Duchess Sarah Ferguson.

200 kilometers from Sydney in 1994, a special type of pine was discovered on the territory of Wollemi Park. And in 1995, these pines began to cultivate in Mount Annan, calling them Vollems pines. For a while, trees were placed in steel cages to protect them from theft, because pines were considered very valuable. Pines can be considered a kind of attraction of the Sydney Botanical Garden, which today houses the most unique collection of the first generation of pine trees in the world, which numbers 60 items.

Traditionally, the landmark of the city of Mount Ennan is divided into several sites, which differ in the types of plants, this is the Garden of Great Ideas, and the Garden of Banxias, and the Garden of Australian Acacias. Wallaby and Wallara live here, more than 160 species of birds fly. There are picnic areas in the garden, and many pedestrian roads are laid here, which stretch for 20 kilometers. This attraction of Sydney is a real paradise for tourists who want to feel like a part of nature, relax among its sounds and beauties. In 1986, the Botanical Research Center of the New South Wales Seed was built in the garden. His task was to provide the garden with seeds of plants. These were the seeds of eucalyptus, acacia and others.

Sight of Sydney – Jenolan caves
Jenolan caves are considered another attraction of Sydney. They are located on the slopes of the Blue Mountains near the capital of Australia, about 175 kilometers away. In 1841, a fleeing convict escaped from the persecution of gendarmes and was later considered the discoverer of the caves. The caves were studied for 30 years after that and were not open for tourists. At the end of the 19th century, their ardent admirer Jeremy Wilson settled in the caves and for 35 years studied them. It was he who told the world about the beauty of this sight in Sydney.

In 1866, the caves were taken under state protection, and already in 1884 they were called Jenolan, and this name has been preserved to this day. It is said that many who went into the caves without an accompanying person who knows these places could not get out of there and was no longer selected from this underworld. This landmark of Sydney has a symbolic name, which in the language of the aborigines means “highly.” The caves are formed by the rivers Coke and Rybnaya, which left underground channels behind them, striking limestone deposits for hundreds of thousands of years. The caves are different, among them are dark and bright. The caves of the Great Arch, the Arch of Carlotta, and the Devil’s Coachhouse, are those through which sunlight penetrates through numerous openings.
